Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and LOQI and govern your access to and use of the LOQI mobile application and related services ("LOQI" or the "Service"). Please read them carefully. They include our Community Guidelines, which set clear rules for content and behaviour.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using LOQI, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use LOQI. If you use LOQI on behalf of any other person, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for them.

2. Eligibility

To use LOQI, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be a current university student and complete university email verification before you post, comment, react, express interest, or chat.
• Complete phone (SMS) verification before you can start a one-to-one chat. Phone verification is not required to browse or post, but it is required to chat.
• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

Unverified users may browse limited content but cannot fully participate until verification is complete. LOQI is intended for users in Australia, beginning in the Brisbane region, and may expand to additional campuses over time.

3. Your Account and Verification

• You may hold only one account per person. Creating multiple or duplicate accounts is not permitted.
• You must not impersonate any person, university, organisation, or LOQI itself, and you must not misrepresent your identity, age, or student status.
• You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us promptly at support@loqiapp.app if you suspect unauthorised use.
• Verification confirms eligibility to use LOQI. It is not a guarantee about any other user's identity, intentions, or conduct. Always use your own judgement when interacting with others.

4. How LOQI Works: Consent and Safety Model

LOQI is a social discovery app for verified university students. It combines a content community (topic-based posts and comments) with a consent-based matching layer. The core interaction model is: content → express interest → mutual consent → chat.

• There are no open direct messages. You cannot message an arbitrary user.
• A one-to-one chat only unlocks when interest is mutual. Either person can decline, ignore, or stop participating at any time.
• LOQI is not a swipe-based dating app and does not publish a "who liked you" wall.
• Report and block tools are always available on every piece of content and every user. Blocking takes effect instantly.

5. Acceptable Use and Community Guidelines

You agree that you will not post, send, share, or engage in any of the following:

• Harassment, bullying, or abusive behaviour toward any person, including unwanted contact, intimidation, or coordinated attacks.
• Hate speech or content that attacks, demeans, or incites violence or hatred against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.
• Any sexual content involving minors, and any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a minor in any way. This is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
• Threats or incitement of violence, self-harm, or harm to others.
• Doxxing or sharing another person's private or identifying information without consent.
• Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content.
• Spam, scams, fraud, phishing, deceptive promotions, or manipulation of the Service.
• Illegal content or activity, including the sale of illegal goods or services.
• Impersonation of any person, organisation, or LOQI.
• Content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
• Attempts to circumvent verification, bans, blocks, rate limits, or other safety controls.

You are solely responsible for the content you create and the way you behave on LOQI. We may remove content and take action on accounts to protect users and the community.

6. Moderation and Enforcement

We take safety seriously and act quickly on objectionable content and abusive users. Specifically:

• We provide in-app reporting on every piece of content and every user, and the ability to block any user instantly.
• We review reports and act on objectionable content and abusive users within 24 hours. Action may include removing content, issuing warnings, restricting features, and suspending or permanently banning accounts.
• We may remove content or restrict accounts proactively where we identify violations of these Terms, even without a report.
• Blocking another user is immediate and prevents further interaction between you and that user.
• We may preserve records of reports, moderation, and enforcement for safety, security, and legal purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

To report content or a user, use the report option available on any post, comment, profile, or chat, or contact support@loqiapp.app.

7. Your Content and Licence

You retain ownership of the content you create on LOQI ("User Content"). By posting or sharing User Content, you grant LOQI a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content solely as needed to operate, provide, secure, moderate, and improve the Service. This licence ends when your User Content is deleted, except for content that has been shared with others, or that we must retain for safety, security, or legal reasons.

You represent that you have the rights necessary to post your User Content and that it does not violate these Terms or the rights of others. LOQI does not claim ownership of your User Content.

8. Termination

You may stop using LOQI at any time and may delete your account in the app from Settings, then Delete account. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or limit features at any time if you violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, if required for safety or legal reasons, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content licences already granted to others, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

9. Disclaimers

LOQI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that verification or moderation will catch every violation. You are responsible for your interactions with other users. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LOQI and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law. These limits do not affect rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, Australia, without affecting any consumer rights you have under applicable law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and provide notice when appropriate. Your continued use of LOQI after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Additional Terms (Apple Standard EULA)

If you download LOQI from the Apple App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies as a minimum set of terms. Where these Terms provide greater protection for users or the community, these Terms apply in addition to the Apple Standard EULA.
